Definition: A voluntary association comprised of University students which is recognized for its specific function by the University and is entitled to certain privileges including operating, meeting, advertising and participating in activities on the University of Minnesota, Morris campus as well as receiving services from Student Activities and funding through the Activities Fee Review Committee.

Mission
The University Register shares UMM's mission to encourage students to pursue intellectual growth and a liberal arts worldview. We try to provide intellectually stimulating content and offer a variety of content, from opinion pieces in our op-ed section to informative articles in our news section to creative writing in our variety section. By providing this wide range of content, we hope to expose students to an array of information and provide material that stimulates our readers' intellect and creativity. We also encourage readers to actively participate in these goals by submitting their own content (e.g. opinion pieces, creative writing, pop culture reviews, or art). We hope that our efforts in these areas will encourage our readers to be critical thinkers and well-rounded individuals. The UR also makes an effort not to limit our outreach to only the UMM campus, aligning with UMM's goal of community contribution. By including community-related news in our articles as often as possible. Lastly, The UR shares UMM's consideration for the enviroment. We keep record of our distribution numbers and how many papers are taken from the stands to gauge our readership.
