What does it really mean to be a hero? Be Your Own Superhero answers that question through an electrifying blend of dance, music, theater, and storytelling that will inspire audiences of all ages.

Created by the acclaimed Minneapolis-based dance collective SHAPESHIFT, this high-energy production follows nine friends as they navigate the challenges of growing up in a vibrant community. Along the way, they discover that courage isn't about having superpowers—it's about choosing kindness, embracing hard work, caring for one another, and making a positive impact on the world around them.

Featuring an exciting fusion of hip-hop, contemporary, ballet, and theatrical movement, along with popular and old-school music, dialogue, and creative staging, Be Your Own Superhero is an uplifting celebration of resilience, compassion, and the power within each of us.

Known for captivating audiences across the country—including performances with Jennifer Lopez and Justin Timberlake during Super Bowl LII, appearances at Jazz at Lincoln Center, and collaborations with Prince's 3rdEyeGirl—SHAPESHIFT brings exceptional artistry, athleticism, and heart to every performance.

Filled with energy, emotion, and unforgettable choreography, Be Your Own Superhero is a powerful reminder that anyone can make a difference—one act of courage and kindness at a time.

This performance is free and open to the public, thanks to a generous gift from an anonymous donor. Chancellor Michael C. Rodriguez will be hosting a reception prior to the performance.
