Subject: Submit Your Funding Request! | AFRC Information

What is the AFRC?

  • The AFRC stands for Activity Fee Review Committee

  • The AFRC is there to allocate funds to different clubs and organizations on campus. These funds may be used for your club’s needs such as supplies for events, food for meetings, to purchase club shirts, to buy merchandise for fundraising, and more! The only rule is that the funding must be covered by University Spending Policies

  • The AFRC is made up of a board that will ultimately decide whether or not to assign the requested funds to your club. The board must follow these guidelines when making their decisions to ensure there is an equal opportunity for each organization to get their requested funds.

Why You Should Fill out a Funding Request

To have money available for your club/organization! This will give your club more opportunities for student engagement without having to use your own club member’s money. The money assigned to your club is meant to be used throughout the school year for club-related purposes.

How to Submit a Funding Request

There are two different types of funding that clubs can request:

1) Annual group funding: This kind of funding is applicable for long standing clubs/organizations (for at least three years). If this funding applies to your club, follow these steps:

  • Fill out one form by Monday February 12th at 4pm, you can find that here

  • Attend the annual budget hearings on Friday February 16th and Saturday February 17th (you will only need to attend one, a sign up will be available once your club submits the form above)

  • This kind of funding only needs to be submitted once a year and the money requested will be applied over a full academic year.

2) Assistance to Student Group (ASG) Funding: This kind of funding is applicable for student groups that are not annually funded. The money available for these clubs come from a budget that the AFRC sets aside specifically for ASG funding. Clubs can dip into this fund for special projects and requests. If this funding applies to your club, follow these steps:

  • Fill out one form by Thursday February 9th by midnight, you can find that here.

  • Keep in mind that there are a set amount of ASG deadlines that happen throughout the semester that clubs can request funding at. You can find all of these deadlines here

What Happens at an AFRC Budget Hearing

  • The AFRC will review your funding request, ask you a number of questions regarding the use of your requested funds, and ultimately determine how much funding your club/organization gets

  • This is not meant to be stressful! The AFRC is there to help you establish the financial needs for your organization so your club has access to purchase what it needs throughout the year.
